What is Support Independent Living (SIL)?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS model that enables people with a disability to live comfortably with others in a shared living arrangement with staffing support. The support provided by Wellness Services is both professional and accessible aiding in the completion of daily tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and personal care.

There are numerous advantages to SIL as disability housing provides the ideal opportunity for people with disabilities to obtain independence while still receiving the necessary care and housing. It’s also a great way to socialise and meet new people through the shared living arrangement. Some houses are also built with accessibility, assistive technology, and/or robustness in mind, depending on your disability. SIL is primarily shared living, however, Wellness Services also provides request home management, in home respite and independent living support.
