What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based intervention program offered through the NDIS that assists with problematic behaviours, family intervention and provides support networking.
At Wellness Services we realise that people with disabilities may exhibit problematic behaviours in response to their surroundings or situations. If there are no effective techniques and support systems established managing these behaviours can be difficult and stressful.
Our NDIS PBS service aims to reduce challenging behaviours by:
- Understanding what the person is communicating through their behaviours.
- Increasing the person’s quality of life.
- Making changes in the environment.
- Teaching the person new skills.
- Constant and positive reassurance.
- Helping families and support people with effective strategies to respond to the behaviours.
Our PBS team is made up of multidisciplinary practitioners, who develop a holistic understanding of the person with challenging behaviours, while developing a creative and innovative behaviour support plan. This service is available to participants of the NDIS who have positive behaviour support included in their funding package.
